Capabilities
The services that GTL can offer include (click on link for more information):
-
Structural and Civil engineering design...At the client’s request, GTL can provide a full or partial design service in all major construction materials (concrete, steel, timber and masonry). This includes the production of detailed design drawings, fabrication and reinforcement drawings and can be tailored for both the commercial and domestic market.
GTL also provides the following technical information on aspects of structural and civil engineering:
- Calculations & drawings
- Structural inspections/reports
- Defects and structural damage reports
- Geotechnical interpretation
- Foundation design including piling
- Feasibility studies
- Supervision
-
Foundation feasibility studies and Pile design (Helical, CFA and rotary bored)...One of the most important elements of foundation design is to select the solution most appropriate to the ground conditions, but also to consider site access and other associated constraints. Our involvement in major projects throughout the world has given us the experience to be able to evaluate all relevant factors, and the capability to predict foundation performance. We employ the full range of techniques from traditional empirical approaches to methods based on the latest research and development.
-
Design, supply and installation of Helical (screw) pile foundations ...GTL offer a complete solution, from the solution design to the supply and installation of Helical (screw) pile foundations. We have a proven track record and have worked on many major projects throughout the world.
-
Design, supply and installation of foundation grillages for Helical (screw) pile solutions...GTL hold an array of standard grillages and platforms and so can provide those most suitable to a specific situation. Our solutions are bespoke with our in house structural design team developing solutions appropriate to individual customers.
GTL’s grillages range from a single pile solution to pile caps for multiple piles. Our grillages are used to tie Helical (screw) piles together so enabling the loads to be distributed evenly. Grillages for telecommunication sites can be designed as a complete compound to accommodate equipment cabinets and security fencing. -
Pile Testing...GTL utilise Helical (screw) piles as reaction piles to undertake Constant Rate Penetration (CRP) and Maintained Load (ML) tests.
The use of the Helix (screw) pile has many advantages such as:
- Faster installation
- No need for transportation of heavy kentledge blocks to site
- Resistant to both compressive and tension loads
- Easy to decommission
- Re-usable and therefore economical and sustainable
- Level installation surface not required
- Installation possible within restricted access (normally associated with working pile tests) -
Geotechnical Consultancy...TL has been involved in a wide variety of projects in which the soil mechanics have been unique to certain parts of the world.
In these situations in particular, Geotechnical and Foundation Engineering plays an essential role. Geotechnical Engineering is the application of the sciences of soil and rock mechanics, engineering geology and other related disciplines to the civil engineering design and construction.
The inherent variability of soils and other geo-materials leads to uncertainty and risk, especially with regard to on-site material conditions and the behavior of materials, including soil-structure interaction. There is therefore an associated risk with any Geotechnical design. GTL’s objective is to mitigate that risk and to provide sound and experienced advice in a friendly and professional manner.
GTL provide reports and designs that are both pragmatic, economic, innovative and sustainable.
